Welcome to French at Centennial High School.
As a Southern California resident, you might think that French is truly a "foreign language." After all, Spanish is widely spoken and common throughout the region. However, French is one of the most useful languages you can learn - it's the only language, alongside English, that is taught in every country in the world, it is spoken on every continent, and it is the official working language of several large international organizations such as the United Nations, the International Olympic Committee, the International Red Cross, and Doctors Without Borders.
The French program at Centennial High School is unique to Southern California. Not only do we offer a comprehensive learning experience along with International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement classes, but we are the only school in California that has been awarded the title of Exemplary French Program by the American Association of Teachers of French.
Students at Centennial benefit from a curriculum designed to prepare them for both the IB and AP exams and smaller class sizes than other languages offered on campus. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of cultural events such as field trips to plays, overseas travel, and of course the annual Mardi Gras celebration.
